First Grade Reading Policy:
Students should read a minimum of 10-15 minutes nightly. This will include student Letterland lists. The homework portion of the list is not required to be returned to the classroom but is good practice to complete at home.

Handwriting
Your child is now learning to form letters using the Letterlanders and the Letterland program.

Projects
It is imperative that your child become accustomed to doing at-home projects at this age. Time management and creativity skills are crucial areas to develop during this stage of elementary school. The first grade teachers may assign small projects throughout the year that align with units of study. Please be sure to allow your child to do the work and show their creativity.
